The OPEX Reference Group APAC Chapter Explores Bridging the Gap Between Tech Enablement and Business Value

The Operational Excellence (OPEX) Reference Group – APAC Chapter, powered by PRIME BPM, hosted its August 2025 Live Meetup, exploring the timely theme: “Connecting the Dots from Tech Enablement to Business Value and Operational Transformation.”

The virtual session featured Ankita Gupta, a senior digital transformation and delivery leader with over 19 years of global experience, who delivered a practical session on bridging the gap between technology investments and measurable business outcomes. Drawing on her extensive experience delivering large-scale cloud, AI, and data modernization programs in highly regulated industries, Ankita provided attendees with a framework and 90-day roadmap for successful digital transformation framework.

“Transformation doesn’t end with deployment, it ends when the value is realized, measured and multiplied,” said Ankita during the session, emphasising that technology should be viewed as “a vehicle and not a destination.”

Key Discussion Highlights

  • A practical framework for connecting technology capabilities to business value metrics
  • Strategies for successful operational transformation, including value definition, co-ownership, and agile delivery
  • The critical role of culture in technology adoption: “90% people and 10% tech”
  • Common pitfalls to avoid, including starting with tech instead of value
  • A 90-day roadmap broken into three phases with specific actions for each
  • The emergence of the Chief Value Officer role to ensure benefits are tracked beyond go-live

The interactive session sparked engaging discussions among attendees, with questions focusing on acknowledging failures, managing change fatigue, and ensuring technology decisions align with actual business needs.

“Many organizations begin their transformation journey by picking a platform or tool first, then searching for problems it can solve,” Ankita noted, highlighting that enterprises have spent $5 trillion globally on digital transformation frameworks in the past five years, yet more than 70% of those projects fail to meet expected returns.
